When I travel, these are my “don’t leave home without” items that you will find in my suitcase.

When it comes to packing for a trip, it can be overwhelming… especially when you have cancer.

Leaving home does not mean your self-care comes to a screeching halt.

Instead, embrace this time away by packing what will continue your healing journey.

My Top 10

1. Water bottle

My preference is a stainless steel water bottle when traveling.

~glass first choice when close to home. Next best…BPA-free plastic.

I have a hard time trusting any plastic, though!

2. Shaker cup

Leave the Vitamix/blender at home. That may seem obvious… but when I was first diagnosed, I lugged my Vitamix where ever I traveled. No need to with a shaker cup!

3. Hot Plate

Useful for hot water, oatmeal, heating up soup/meals. Best ten bucks spent!

4. Alkaline Water Drops

Easy, convenient and allows you to continue drinking your alkaline water.

5. Sunscreen

The sunshine is great for you! Load up on your Vitamin D.

After the first 20 minutes, it may be wise to apply sunscreen to avoid a sunburn.

Especially for fair-skinned Minnesotans like me!

6. Yoga Mat

Bring your exercise with you by investing in a travel mat. Weighs about 2 lbs.

My fav’…sunrise yoga by the ocean!

7. Lymph brush

Keeps your lymphatic system circulating and draining out the yucky stuff. The big brush is for the body and small one for face and neck.

Get brushing!

8. Eye mask

A major part of your healing is sleep! An eye mask is great for the airplane, hotel rooms where the curtains separate in the middle or the room is not dark.

A mask extends my sleep by 1-2 hours.

9. Book/Kindle

Brings those books that you have been meaning to read.

My sister, Kay, highly recommended this book. With my hectic home schedule, it has been sitting on my bed stand. Perfect time to read when traveling! I tend to bring one “self-help” book and a “fun” book on my travels.

10. Business card

For those times when people ask about you and your journey. It can be difficult to share your healing journey with all. Share your business card & let your website/blog tell your story (if you have blog).

This is much-needed time away to recharge your batteries

for your healing journey and to be the best mom you can be.

Breathe. Relax. Enjoy.
