Nourishing myself is a joyful experience, and I am worth the time spent on my healing.

With my cancer diagnosis, green became my favorite color!
Green veggies are an anti-oxidant, high in nutrients,
and super-good for the Amazing Mom.
Making Peace with the Color Green
“You have no room for error,” my chiropractor shared with me after learning of my breast cancer diagnosis.
“You must start the Ketogenic Diet now.”
Knowing absolutely nothing about the Ketogenic Diet…I learned very quickly about it.
Knowing my life was on the line with my breast cancer that had metastasized into my lymph nodes, I followed my chiropractor’s advice.
Processed foods, excessive protein and sugar were immediately eliminated from my diet.
It is amazing what one can do when the stakes are high!
In a nutshell, the Ketogenic Diet is primarily lots of greens, good fats, little protein and no sugar. My best friend became my Vitamix as I learned to make the best green smoothies around!
Kale is a super food for Amazing Moms living with cancer & in remission.
Loving Kale
I learned that Kale was not the new trending name for your baby (rhymes with Hale).
Instead it is the queen of green veggies. It packs a punch with its powerful anti-oxidants, high in fiber, vitamins (A, C, K), calcium, anti-inflammatory, detox (body and liver).

If a person has cancer, it is very likely his/her body is inflamed and toxic.
Kale is an anti-inflammatory super food. You want to identify and incorporate as many anti-inflammatory foods into your diet. Kale is a great start!
Kale is also a great detoxifying agent. One of the first things to do when diagnosed with cancer is to detox your body. Your body is full of toxins and it needs to be rid of them to begin your healing journey.
I found the best way to increase my intake of kale was including it in smoothies.
Green Goddess
“I am a green goddess.”
I feel like a Green Goddess when I drink my green smoothies. Instead of bemoaning having to eat/drink kale, I feel blessed to honor my body with this super food.
Green Goddess Smoothie Recipe
~ Fill Vitamix or blender 1/3 of the way full with filtered water
~ Add 2 TBL organic olive oil (“guess-timate’ and pour directly from the bottle to save time!)
~ Add 3 cups Kale
~ Add other greens (options): wheatgrass, broccoli, romaine lettuce, arugula, celery, spirulina, dandelion greens
~ If you would like to naturally sweeten er’ up add: (low sugar options) green apple, berries (high sugar/anti-inflammatory) mango
~ Blend; will make 64 oz in Vitamixer
~ Pour in to pint-sized Mason Jars, seal and place in refrigerator for later.
~ Pour the remaining in a wine-glass. Enjoy!
